With University of Miami alumni living in all fifty states and 148 different countries, recognizing their outstanding accomplishments is a challenge. The UM Alumni Association awards program seeks out alumni who have been successful in their field or have made a significant impact through community service. The annual alumni awards also recognize individuals and groups who have been actively involved with the University or Alumni Association during the year.

Cristina Saralegui, ’71
Cristina is a 30+ year veteran journalist recognized as one of the most influential role models for today’s Hispanic women. During her successful television career, she has had one of the highest rated programs on Spanish-language television, The Cristina Show, with more than 4,000 episodes aired, and 12 Emmys won. She is the first Spanish-language television personality to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the first Latina to be inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame.

Cristina es una veterana periodista de 30 años de experiencia reconocida como uno de los modelos más influyentes para la mujer hispana de hoy. Durante su exitosa carrera de televisión, que ha tenido uno de los programas de mayor sintonía en la televisión en español, El Show de Cristina, con más de 4.000 episodios al aire, y ganó 12 premios Emmy. Ella fue la primera personalidad de la televisión en español en recibir una estrella en Hollywood Walk of Fame y la primera latina en ser exaltado al Salón de la radiodifusión y del cable de la Fama.
